Saw you going strong on TV (in Australia) late last night.
Are Strava going to give you as special Polka Dot for the record number go KOMs?
John T.
Interesting that the de la Croix climb is only Cat 3 in Strava, though was Cat 1 for the TDF. Always thought Strava's ratings were higher than the race organizations, but maybe not.
Neela J.
@John Toor: I wonder if the Tour de France made it a Cat 1 in part in consideration for when it came on the day (after many miles of riding and many metres of climbing)...while Strava assumes you could as easily climb it at the beginning of your ride or at the end of a monster ride. Just a guess.
Hannes L.
nice riding at the front

Strava is right by having it's own objective measurements, it's first time I believe a climb in Tour of only 4k gets a Cat 1.. steepness+end of the race+subjective matter but still then.. a Cat 1 should be some 800 meters up at least imo. Mr weer sterk gereden Laurens! Gaan jullie nu voor ritten gaan, jij lijkt me zelf wel sterk genoeg om een ontsnapping in een bergrit tot een goed einde te brengen, met een groepje weg en dan solo eindigen.. your day of fame! Go for it :)
Michiel V.
Cracking ride Laurens.Chapeau!
How come you didn't have a KOM on The Real De La Caquerelle Laurens.Had you been there before and go faster that time?
Matthi B.
Now you have your first 'official' TdF KOM Point as well!
Congratulation and best wishes for your ride to Paris.
Stay on the bike!

Mad respect for your hard work Laurens!

So Strava calculates Climb categories in isolation... meaning it takes the climb by itself and then applies the general guidelines based on grade, distance, elevation gain, etc. The Tour makes their climb categorizations in the context of the stage and the KOM competition; this is a perfect example, as you have to be a fantastic climber to survive in the lead group all the way to the Col de la Croix, and so the Tour rewards more KOM points by making it a Category 1. Make sense?
KOM KILLER!!!! Awesome job Laurens!!!
Respect ! ! ! What a ride(r)
