So, I was bombing down the foothill trail, and when I hit the substantial G-out, 1/2 mile south of Bonhoff, my rear shock decided to puke its guts out. Irony of ironies, less than 24 hours earlier, I had just asked my wife if the thought her friend, who works in Watsonville, would be willing to drop my shock+fork off at Fox for service, as they were about due. Now they are really due.
The rest of the ride left me with nothing but an inchworm pogo stick. Absolutely no compression or rebound, and the lower half of my bike was covered in oil. Thankfully, it did not hit the rotors, and since I had been servicing the main seal regularly, I still had air pressure and was not riding on a collapsed shock. Still felt like quicksand, though, and Dutch Flat was not fun.
Wow - And you still maganed to KOM 4 of the 6 segments. And in taking a look at the other 2 segments, you already own them. Sucks to hear about the shox. They do great work over the in watsonville. Good luck.
Awesome despite the rear shock problem!
Sucks about the shock but great ride nonetheless!
