power definitely did not pick up from srm but the speed seems right. Epic! Crashed about 25kms to go on a confusing turn and broke bike, chased rest of race....you never know. Epic epic day!
Hi Clara - great to see another bunch of Canadians riding in circles around Oudenaarde today. Hope you had a great time!
an attempt to re-visit this crazy day and a photo of my totaled bike! http://clara-hughes.com/bike-racing-101-tour-of-flanders/
Awesome ride Clara. Olli to the rescue! Nice to have a spare bike at the ready within minutes of going down....way to represent!
The women were awesome today. I really wish they'd get more coverage!
Thank you for the nice blog Clara. It makes up for the lack of media coverage. Glad to read that you're Ok.
Clara, sorry to hear you had a crash and broke your bike, hope you are all right!! Keep up the great work and you will get them on the next race. Take care and God bless.
only 1:52 back after slicing your bike in half....AWESOME !
That was still an awesome ride Clara!! Nice to hear you're ok. Great riding!!
Wow, certainly glad you survived the crash and amazingly jumped back in the race; and thanks for the great narrative of the day -- it makes you want to jump on the bike and join in (if only in spirit). Great riding and thanks for sharing.
Better the bike than you! I didn't realize you hadn't raced the cobbles before. Strike that off the list in a big way! Way to go Clara and great to see a Canadian in third, that is huge!
looked like a killer race, better to bust bike than to ....... you know. nice job today
thanks everyone....man it was epic! For all the canadians who will know what I mean, I am just relieved beyond belief not to be out like Sid the Kid :) Better the bike than the body. Olli already had a new bike ready for me yesterday. Specialized lululemon rules!
Enjoyed the blog posting - I had to follow the races from my iPhone on the drive back to Amsterdam yesterday. Not quite the same. Will the team be at Amstel in two weeks? I don't think our compatriot from Team Sky will be racing and I'm hoping to find some people who speak Canuck - four years of living in the lowlands have made me a bit rusty. Enjoy the pave!
Your Strava Art looks like a bucking horse.
this is definitly one of the hardest races of the season ! ... awesome ride! I am happy you only broke a bone of your bike.
Incredible day! The bike was definitely kah-put! Thank goodness you were fine and able to finish strong. Looking forward to the next race!
Your journal entry was awesome, thanks for taking the time to post it.
Wow, awesome crash, glad you are alright. Makes me appreciate nice flat strait asphalt
Awesome ride despite some bad luck Clara, and thanks for sharing the experience in your blog!
