Hmmm...really doubting that i climbed 29,000m today...

Wow, you rode up Mount Everest almost 3 1/2 times! Nice job!

That's a quality malfunction right there. Maybe Garmin will send you a new Edge 800 to replace your 500.

Yeah, given they're still selling the 500 i suspect that's unlikely. ;)

Strava needs to run uploaded rides through an elevation verification thinger like they have on the Garmin site. Maybe they do for U.S. rides, IIRC, but Garmin works for our rides, too. On Strava I gained 158 metres just by stopping for a couple of beers in Dan's garage. Garmin Connect flattens that out.

I've pinged Strava support with a ride that took East Saanich Rd and turned it sadly flat. They're looking into it. Both GC and the SportTracks elevation plugin do a better job around here right now.

Yeah, one of the few areas the Garmin site has Strava beat..and the funny thing is i know Strava can use elevation maps because my buddy uses an Android app on his phone, and still gets elevation. I think i'd trust that over the Garmin...
The weird changes are from a temperature change usually...that's what i've figured. My powertap is finicky too, so i tend to put it outside 20+min before i ride to let it 'settle in' to the temperature.

It's the barometric pressure changing.
