When I saw you flying up the 154 I figured that KOM was gone. I was just beginning to descent as you neared the top of the pass.

What impress me isn't the speed, it is the HR.

i wish the tour chat guys actually prepared some interesting questions for a rider like you. they were giggling like school girls, I like that they are trying something cool but come on.

Luca, I have low heart rate. Don't bother reading into that. Karl... HA. That's funny.

Once your cross the river on Paradise Road and head east, isn't that mostly FIREROAD?

Ted or Steve, is it mostly fireroad or pavement as you head east after paradise road?

    Great route!!

Joseph, it's paved (although not maintained and in some disrepair) to roughly the start of the "Forest Route 5 N18 Climb" segment, and then it's fire road. From what I recall it was mostly smooth and wide and well graded, but I was on a CX bike.

Thanks Steve, that's good to know. I'll just assume, TED road on the fireroad with his skinny race tires and made-due.

TED...are you from the Santa Barbara area. Taking Paradise past the river is a bit of an adventure and approaching some backcountry.

    Nice job!

I'm also impressed by the low heart rate. Ted, can you give an aproximation of you threshold heart rate? Thanks.

Hey Joseph, Yup lots of fire roads. And plenty of roads not even worthy of being called a fire road! Better than the north side of Refugio though. All in all, a sweet ride.

Thanks for the blog link. I have to admit, I was laughing about the Paradise Grocery Store and your run in with Forest Gump. HA

BTW, after you crossed the river, you headed right. For future reference, if you went straight-north, you run into some incredible MTBing.

Between Steve W's adventures and your Paradise Loop ride, that backcountry is on my list to do.

    Thanks

    Good luck this season!
