The last day of the year, as well as the last day to complete the Festive500 ride. I rode with Khalid who still has 121km to go while I am short of 62km. We decided to do the Tampin loop, starting from Petron MCIS at 7:30am towards Rembau and back via Air Mawang, Kuala Pilah and Ulu Bendul.
Went into scenic Sepri and had breakfast at Rembau at aobut 8:50am. Headed to Tampin passing through Kota. I completed my Festive500 as we reached Johol at 10:40am. Still the journey is only halfway.
Perhaps the most unnerving was the 10km+ stretch towards 'Beijing' (Tokong Si Thian Kong) with its gentle slope uphill of between 1 and 3% grade. Just as we reached the peak, an accident happened. Khalid fell as his front wheel rubbed with my rear wheel, perhaps as I slowed down abruptly from the excitement of ending the slow climb.
We continued to Kuala Pilah and stopped for a break at KP Cendol very close to noon. Adjusted Khalid's RD setting and we set off towards home. Alhamdulillah we were blessed with tailwind all the way.
Stopped briefly for drinks at Ulu Bendul at 1:30pm before tackling the last climb of the day up Bukit Putus. From there on, it was the usual normal ride; got home via Mafah and Kg Sentosa.
At around 2:00pm, my ride concluded thus ending the year's cycling as well as completing the Festive500 challenge.
