I tried to follow your route a week ago and well...it was epic, that's for sure! Hit lots of brush on the ridgeline before the summit, so thick we had to descend and traverse around to the southeast side of the peak before summiting. Another thing that made it exciting was the lack of a trail sign on the way back where the service road gradually ends in brush...not too far after passing above Pico Blanco (public) camp (which we missed)...there's a small cairn where a trail goes off that is the right way to go that we turned around and took after discovering this! Just thought you'd like a trail condition update. Hilarious what suffices as a trail sign in Ventana sometimes. Plenty of poison oak out there already. Too much for those who are sensitive but we got off without any. 18 miles 5000'!
