Something special in the air today.  Perfect roll out with Hayden, mega excitement for the effort at hand.  Perfect coffee together with Gerard and Hayden at Roastiv after - happy with the pacing today - DS Complete.

Could write a story but maybe I don’t need to (story added below 😆 ***) I am a very very happy guy.  Goooood day!!

**3rd full 1hr effort this year, 314w, 315w, and today 316w.  So basically just hitting 4.94, 4,9, and then 4.96 watts per kg, never reaching that solid 5!  I’m very happy with the consistency though, which if anything just shows how blessed I’ve been this year.  No sickness, no crashes (scrapes, stupid stuff, but no crashes :), I've enjoyed a very good balance of huge fun rides and occasional races and hard training, and things have worked out better than I could have hoped for with the timings of everything.

This is one of three segments that I love so much, and one that I've always wanted to just have on record a time with which I’m really satisfied.  Having a famous Climb as your local climb, and also having all this history on Strava and all these numbers, it can become quite a thing to plot and plan different power outputs, etc. when actually all we are really chasing is just a day when we totally empty the tank and we know we did our best.  No matter the time, you want to feel like the legs were good, AND you are happy with the result that day (no bad luck, stoppages…).  This road has tourists, teenagers racing motorbikes, dogs, occasional traffic, occasional construction, any of a dozen circumstantial reasons why a ride could be interrupted.  Obviously persistence is necessary, and something in the ballpark of 250 days spent climbing this mountain over the past four years, today was surely one of the best.  I can rest satisfied with a good segment time and even still though there are definitely GPS segments that don’t add up (you can see today as well, just before the temple halfway) - like I said I’m satisfied to at least and at last have a time on that final leaderboard that matches what “I think I should have” 😂
