Richard invited me to join him to see a lightup in Kibune. It was just the motivation for me to get onto the bike again.  The lightup was lovely, but unfortunately by the time I'd got there, I and my phone were all sweaty and I'd forgotten a little towel with which to clean the camera lens.

We then decided to climb Hanase, which I was pleased about because, to my shame, I'd not ridden it yet this year.  On average, since I started cycling nine years ago, I've ridden it about 10 times a year. Though only three times last year, I rode it 13 times the year before, and 20 times the year before that. 

We were taking an easy pace and I felt fine, but about a quarter of the way up my heart started to do all kinds of weird palpitations, so I dialed it back even further to give the heart a chance to get back into proper rhythm, which it mostly did by the time I got to the top. (The HR graph for the segment shows it all clearly.)

All in all, a lovely ride.
