I passed a guy who was walking, who stopped me to tell me he's descended from the Tarahumara Indians. A professor from University of Texas San Antonio recently tracked him down and interviewed him, he told me, for research she is doing to see how the Tarahumara Indians fare when they leave their culture and home in Mexico. He figured from my coloring that I'm not a relative of his, he said, so he wants to know why I run barefoot. I asked him, given his heritage, why he wears shoes! We had an interesting discussion. Then a pizza delivery guy from Papa John's up the road flew buy me on a skate board, carrying two pizzas. I had to move out of his way. I didn't get photos of either Eric (the Tarahumara Indian) or the pizza guy. Kolbe was pulling on the leash too much for me to get out my camera while I was speaking to Eric, and the pizza guy went buy too fast.

Interesting encounter, Teresa! I remember there was a Tarahumara who ran the Boston Marathon 1 or 2 years ago and he did okay but maybe not as well as one would hope after reading the Born to Run book. Thanks for sharing.
