Today I completed the Lakes, Meres, and Waters challenge—a 102-mile epic that takes you to every significant lake, mere, and water in the Lake District. This challenge isn’t just a test of endurance; it’s part of the rich history of Lake District running, with roots going back to when fell running and ultra-distance challenges first took hold in the area. It’s a journey that not only pushes your physical limits but also connects you with the landscape in a profound way.

To succeed, you’ve got to be a well-rounded runner—comfortable on the rocky fells, able to handle technical descents, and strong on both trails and roads. It’s one of the most varied and demanding challenges out there, and there’s a reason so few have completed it. Being the 5th fastest to finish is something Is a great achievement 

The weather made it that much harder. And was very was classic Lake District—relentless rain, driving wind, and low visibility at times. There were moments when the rain felt like it was coming at me sideways, and the trails became rivers of mud. But that’s part of the territory with a challenge like this—you’re not just racing against time, but also against the unpredictable nature of the Lakes. Every mile felt like a battle, not just with the terrain but with the elements themselves.

I couldn’t have done it without my incredible support crew. They were out there, in the thick of the wind and rain, meeting me at checkpoints, keeping my spirits up, and making sure I stayed fueled and focused. The conditions were brutal, but they stuck it out, and I owe so much of this achievement to them. 

There were countless moments along the way that will stay with me—the dramatic beauty of the lakes in the weather the highs and lows of pushing through the tied feet and the overwhelming sense of accomplishment as I crossed that final mile. It’s a challenge I’ll never forget, and I’m proud to be part of its history.
