What a war today. Matthew Beers was out for blood. Thought I killed my day after panic chasing him in the first hour, but gave it everything and survived through a tough middle part. It wasn’t my best day, but absolutely gave it my best. Got super tactical as the GP riders marked their respective threats, and a break got a mega leash. Somehow survived with the main chase group of 5 and it came down to a super tactical finish. Matt and I marked each other off the podium for the day since we had a lot more at stake in the overall, and he got me by just a bit in the sprint. Hamstrings were fully locking up and just didn’t quite have it to come around. He was a machine today and absolutely deserves that second overall. Ended up tied on points but he takes it with Big Sugar as the tiebreaker. What a year. Super happy.
