Our third annual Tour of Flanders ride.  What a lovely ride and an excellent day out, for just the two of us, before GrNY's Spring Gravel Series commences over the next five weekends.  As in past years, we did this ride within a week of the real Tour of Flanders (i.e., the one in Belgium).  For better or worse, we captured very typical Flanders-like weather conditions (cool and overcast), but at least it was dry!  This ride included a little bit of everything: flat dirt along the Housatonic River, steep climbs (paved and dirt), smooth pavement and open views along Lake Waramaug, and rough twisty dirt roads through the woods.  
We had two excellent stops for food: The Warren General Store and then Wilson's in Kent, CT.  Unlike last time I was there, Wilson's had plenty of their spectacular crisp-on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside giant chocolate chip cookies on hand. We saw hawks, turkey vultures, woodpeckers, happy-looking cows, goats, and various other animals along the way.  We also saw evidence of last night's snow in this part of Connecticut on the colder ridges and in areas that were sheltered from the sun. A really enjoyable day out.
