Complete shit show after 20ish. Led a few miles from about 8 to the half way point and felt pretty ok. The legs were fine but the breathing issues from my jacked up ribs and back became an issue, literally at "the morgue" aid station.  I backed off and did what I could from there, but any heavy breathing was a no go since I couldn’t fill my lungs with air without being in a little pain.  Not terrible pain, but enough to be uncomfortable and for my body to say no to running and focus everything on breathing. Nutrition was on point. Hydration was on point…until it wasn’t after I crossed the finish line. I finished. 3rd place, well off the leaders but at that point at 20ish I knew I was done. Not cooked, just couldn’t keep competing. Then hell broke loose. Drank some water at the finish, probably too much, and puked up all stomach contents. Then 2 hrs after the finish I took an ambulance ride and ended up in the hospital  to get 2 bags of intravenous infusions. Good effin times😂 my goal of 4:20ish ended up being 5:02. Most of that extra time was spent at several aid stations trying to drop out without actually saying “I want to drop out.” 

Two lessons learned: 
1: don’t fall down
2: if you do fall down, don’t try to run an ultra a week later if you have issues from said fall. 

I’ll be licking my wounds and reevaluating life choices. I might take up pickle ball. 😎
