Oof. Very hot. Felt worse than Guto Nyth Bran. Just walking from the hall towards the start I could feel the sun burning my neck. Set off ok, led from the start up the steep road and into the woods. There wasn't anyone behind me here even by the drop down, but by the left turn to start the big climb when I turned there was a queue of guys. On to the climb I got caught up and really thought I'd overcooked it in the heat but just kept tapping away putting the effort in dragging one guy clear I think. I got a little gap by the big tracks and then some more on the steep rocky tracks up towards the mast. Ran well enough on the grass bit round the back and was strong on the hideous track to the trig into a headwind. Got down the steeper bits fine and then ran ok on the diagonal. Feet burning. Was strong on the nasty bit in the woods and climb up on the road before final drop down. Legs and feet in bits by then anyway. Nice blister on left heel, and both blistered a bit on the heel sole itself, plus usual bramble cuts. Finished 1st. 33.39, last year 34.12 (worse conditions this year I think in the heat), but nowhere near 31.56 in '21 or 32.46 in '19.
