The first ultra race on Prince Edward Island, from tip to green gabled tip. Beautiful day, beautiful ride. Who knew a sandbar had so many gnarly gravel climbs on offer? Took the win after a day-long battle with Mike Davis, picking up minutes on the Confed Trail and its gentle grades after he’d pass me on the semi-treacherous descents into the loot box surfaces of loose gravel and sand. Big confidence boost after a brutal season of spring training and an anticlimactic DNF at the Transcontinental. Extra special winning on home turf, where I did my first ever 100km with my Dad, and finishing on the Northside road where we rode together last.
