WOOOOOOW! Unbelieveable! That was a race, or "just a training"? Awesome!
Are you training for a 24h race or something similar? Congrats on this run bro, a good mental challenge I guess (in addition to the physical one)
Nope, just another run for Flo. He wrote about it on his site: http://www.flotography.com/how-i-trained-for-my-first-100-mile-run/
Simply incredible! No finishing medal, no aid stations...
878 suffer score???
Awesome job Flo, Congrats!!!
@ Michael and @Guillaume, it was just an adventure run I had be wanting to do for a while. I didn't have time to train in the mountains much, so I ran a road 100 instead. Worked out well with the distance between the 2 cities
@bill, the aid stations were beach water fill ups and gas stations :)
Cheers Scott. Yeh 878 that's it?!
@Paul, on this run I was thinking about your SD 3rd place and how fast you ran that race with all those mountains, nice one!
So how are you feeling? Think you'll post a recap in a few days??
wait, you couldn't just do the last 1km? congrats on a century.
Haha @mmx I was done once my Suunto watch said 100 miles so that was enough running for me
@bill - had an Epson salt bath this morning and walked to Starbucks, body is pretty stiff but not bad. I brought a Go Pro so will put together a little recap
What the!!!??! Way to go!! Please blog!! I want to read!!' Will share!!
YES... CONGRATULATIONS!! So stoked for you!!
Nice ! Congrats bro
Wow! You're killing it dude!
@mmx: how can we get Floris on a bike? This is just silly.
Nice run, wow!
Just saw your post on Reddit - congrats on the 100 miler. Enjoyed the video, too!
@Appelman, haha I'll have to join you and MMX one day. I think I'll like the downhill parts on a bike the most :)
Thanks guys! I just put up a little recap and video from this run on my site, you might enjoy it: http://www.flotography.com/my-first-100-mile-run-attempt-from-long-beach-to-san-diego/
@Justin, that's rad! Thank you, glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Cheers
awesome read and video!!!!! epic!!!
Great write up!
Great video, love how you share the highs & lows.
Question: how was the burrito at mile 40? I've never ate any real food on a long run & can't imagine running after more than a Gu.
I'm surprised about the coca cola as well!!!
Haha @Hieu Coca Cola works like magic man!
Cheers @paul. I called the Burrito place in advance and just asked for a chicken burrito with beans and guacamole inside, cut in 2 pieces and wrapped to go. For some reason she added a ton of Jalepenos so it was super spicy cause I couldn't get them all out while eating and running. No clue why I was in such a hurry those first 50 miles, I should have just stopped for 5 minutes to eat but was too much in a race mentality early on.
If you eat 1/4 or 1/3 of a burrito at the time you should be fine. I'd say try it on your next 30-40 mile training run
Congrats Floris! Rad run and the video turned out great!
Thanks Josh, during this run I thought several times about your upcoming race. Hope training is going well for you! Cheers
Came via your Reddit link. Amazing run. You should totally make this entire route a Strava Segment :)
talk about fat burning!! 13,000+ calories and your average HR at 127! people wanna know how to burn fat fast! there you have it!!!!
@Ian haha, that would be hilarious. Good luck to anyone rerunning that exact route
@Brett - that probably explains why I was a bit hungry the following day
Just caught your report and vid - awesome stuff, and an inspiration to someone coming back to running after a lot of years on my ass behind a desk!
Incredible run, video, and positive attitude during this day. We should all be so lucky to sound and feel like you did after one marathon, let alone four back to back. Inspiring!
@barry, stoked to hear that man. Good to hear you're coming back into running. Keep it up! Cheers
Haha thanks @david, tried to keep the attitude as positive as I could for most of the run. Glad you liked the video! Cheers
great write up, really inspiring especially the 20 mile of marathon bit.
Awesome Floris. Very inspiring too. Thanks for your blog posting.
