WOOOOOOW! Unbelieveable! That was a race, or "just a training"? Awesome!

  2. Guillaume Calmettes

Are you training for a 24h race or something similar? Congrats on this run bro, a good mental challenge I guess (in addition to the physical one)

  3. Bill Z.

Nope, just another run for Flo. He wrote about it on his site: http://www.flotography.com/how-i-trained-for-my-first-100-mile-run/

Simply incredible! No finishing medal, no aid stations...

  4. Scotty Rev

    Flo. Unreal!

  5. Scotty Rev

    878 suffer score???

  6. Paul Sinclair

    Awesome job Flo, Congrats!!!

  7. Floris Gierman

@ Michael and @Guillaume, it was just an adventure run I had be wanting to do for a while. I didn't have time to train in the mountains much, so I ran a road 100 instead. Worked out well with the distance between the 2 cities

  8. Floris Gierman

@bill, the aid stations were beach water fill ups and gas stations :)

  9. Floris Gierman

Cheers Scott. Yeh 878 that's it?!

  10. Floris Gierman

@Paul, on this run I was thinking about your SD 3rd place and how fast you ran that race with all those mountains, nice one!

  11. Bill Z.

So how are you feeling? Think you'll post a recap in a few days??

  12. mmx michael marckx

wait, you couldn't just do the last 1km? congrats on a century.

  13. Floris Gierman

Haha @mmx I was done once my Suunto watch said 100 miles so that was enough running for me

  14. Floris Gierman

@bill - had an Epson salt bath this morning and walked to Starbucks, body is pretty stiff but not bad. I brought a Go Pro so will put together a little recap

  15. Hieu Vu

Just saw your post on Reddit - congrats on the 100 miler. Enjoyed the video, too!

  23. Floris Gierman

@Appelman, haha I'll have to join you and MMX one day. I think I'll like the downhill parts on a bike the most :)

  24. Floris Gierman

Thanks guys! I just put up a little recap and video from this run on my site, you might enjoy it: http://www.flotography.com/my-first-100-mile-run-attempt-from-long-beach-to-san-diego/

  26. Hieu Vu

    awesome read and video!!!!! epic!!!

  27. Johnny D'Agostino

    Great write up!

  28. Paul Sinclair

Great video, love how you share the highs & lows.
Question: how was the burrito at mile 40? I've never ate any real food on a long run & can't imagine running after more than a Gu.

  29. Hieu Vu

I'm surprised about the coca cola as well!!!

  30. Floris Gierman

Haha @Hieu Coca Cola works like magic man!

  31. Floris Gierman

Cheers @paul. I called the Burrito place in advance and just asked for a chicken burrito with beans and guacamole inside, cut in 2 pieces and wrapped to go. For some reason she added a ton of Jalepenos so it was super spicy cause I couldn't get them all out while eating and running. No clue why I was in such a hurry those first 50 miles, I should have just stopped for 5 minutes to eat but was too much in a race mentality early on.

If you eat 1/4 or 1/3 of a burrito at the time you should be fine. I'd say try it on your next 30-40 mile training run

  32. Josh Spector

Congrats Floris! Rad run and the video turned out great!

  33. Floris Gierman

Thanks Josh, during this run I thought several times about your upcoming race. Hope training is going well for you! Cheers
