Breathtaking,  action packed, tough. Starting in the mountains this year. Relentless number of Alpine passes. Race required passage between pairs of checkpoints, with the caveat that each pair has a hidden parour to ride which is only revealed to you (via a QR code) once you reach one of the checkpoints.  So routing on the fly into the unknown. 

Giswilerstock climb at the end was crazy in the fading light of the 2nd night. Caught by a thunderstorm and forced to shelter in a barn with Luca until lightning stopped. I hadn't planned a route around the West so after completing the parcour turned around and climbed again (ouch), back to Luzerne to catch McDonald's 15 minutes before closing (1:45am). Crashed out on a sofa in the lobby of a Youth Hostel I had booked - didn't even make it to the dormitory. Part 2 starts in a couple of hours!
