The day started perfectly - blue skies, calm air, and confidence high as I set out clockwise on the loop. The trail was clear until the scree section before the ridge, where the snow began to show and the weather flipped a switch.

As always, the midpoint of the ridge brought its signature chaos - brutal gusts that had me crouched low, hanging on while the wind tried to toss me off the mountain. Grateful I’d done this loop before and knew when to hop on and off the ridge!

Made it to the summit but didn’t linger - the wind was fierce, so I dropped quickly to lower ground to grab a bite. On the descent, I met a gentleman who’d twisted his ankle and had no poles on the snow-covered scree. I lent him one of mine and broke trail for him, but it cost me -  lots of falls and bruises from landing on rocks hidden under snow and loose scree.

Normally I love a good downhill, but this one was a grind - long, painful, and humbling. After 8 hours on the mountain, I came out in one piece but definitely battle-worn.

Epic views, sketchy terrain, and a reminder that even when nature knocks you around, you can still find strength in the struggle. Survived this one - ready to rest, recover, and take on tomorrow’s hike. 💪
