Planned a significantly longer route, >150 miles along the same century route and decided to start around 2 am to comfortably make it before dusk. Was the chillest, most relaxed ride I've done yet - 0 cars, no muscle or back pain, caught the PATH train just in time, was holding a steady fast pace without much effort and a relatively low HR, and was my first time ever night riding in the city. Looked down to see my distance and was surprised I made it that far already. Unfortunately despite my best planning efforts for more than a week, it was way too cold on my fingers and feet, close to like 25ish degrees with windchill and I didn't have specialized gear for that (my Garmin was saying 9 degrees?). Fingers and feet went numb and became painful very fast despite rewarming attempts. There's very few things as dissapointing as turning back on a long ride/run that you've been looking forward to for weeks, perfected every mile of the route, dialed in the nutrition strategy, and planned the transportation back home for, but I had no other choice but to find a warm place for like 3 hours till the temps rose which wasn't really an option as I was kind of in the middle of nowhere. Really sucks because it felt at least 3x easier at the same spot than my century attempt (same exact route) and everything else was fine and warm, but the risk of frostbite was real and too painful to ignore. Not only that but finding a Lyft to the Inwood 207th St station was hell at that hour and I was left freezing on the side of the road and took me 2 hours to make it back home - at which point the sun was already out and the temps were warming up. Completely understand the value of shorter, less intense, and more frequent rides - but I wanted to squeeze in one last really long ride before the end of the season. Learned ALOT of important lessons on this ride that will defenitely serve me well on my future attempts but today was not the day. 

Also my first ride with a powermeter and I think I heard bats? Saw two rats scurrying on the trailways. No pedestrains meant I broke basically ever personal segment record (86 on a 30 mile ride lol)
