TCTC Wednesday Workout

So thrilled! My previous PR was from way back in 2012 and I'd been chasing it ever since, and beginning to think I wasn't ever going to surpass it. Admittedly I took advantage of all kinds of technological advancements that didn't exist 13 years ago, utilizing an unholy combination of carbon-plated Pebax, hydrogel-encapsulated bicarbonate, and concentrated beetroot extract... but at 46 I'll take whatever help I can get. I think I also deserve *some* credit for a strong build incorporating tough workouts from Caitlin Chrisman with the TCTC crew, a lot of strenuous long runs with MVARC and my CIM training partners, more strength training than I've done in the past, and some solid pacing (1:25/1:23 half splits).
This was my 9th CIM and it's always a delight. Conditions couldn't have been better, and I loved seeing so many friends out on the course, both racing and spectating. Congrats to my fellow marathoners, many of whom also scored PRs today: Tyler Chenhall, Kai Bohannon, Ian Saunders, James Valori, Hiro Kubo, Steve Howland, C.J. Gabbe, Benjamin Wood, Stuart Taylor, Sara Kato, Julia Wang, Manu Chantra, Mark Holmes, and Garner Lee. And thanks for coming out to support Janne Heinonen, Shreyas ‎Honrao, Caitlin Boldt, Will Conner, Lucy Qiu, Alex Z, and Abel, your encouragement was really motivating!
