Mill Cities Relay - 1st

Let the bad times roll. Another quite lackluster race, set out aiming for 5:40s the first half and a bit quicker the second if I felt good. Unfortunately, while I was able go out at my target pace, I couldn't hold it slowed a bit after the first third. Wheels never truly fell off, but I should have been faster. 

Conditions were fine, not great. A couple of small icy patches on the road, and the descent to the river trail was a bit snowy, but certainly could have been worse. Weather was fine as well. Maybe a touch chilly for my dress, arm sleeves may not have been a bad idea, but I was fine. 

Not sure I'm totally in love with the removal of the sunshine start. While it was nice not having to deal with traffic on a narrow sidewalk, I ran the whole race alone. Had a Winners Circle guy about a minute in front of me the whole time. Got passed by the Somerville Masters at about 8.4, but couldn't hang with him and his 5:20 pace as I was struggling to stay under 6. 

All in all, it just wasn't my day, but its a team effort and I was fortunate enough to have a solid team around me and we took home the W. Wound up 6th overall, top Coed Open, and top Coed in general for that matter.
