Bummer you needed to bail, but it looks like an epic 4 days, aside from the back scabs. 🤔
It was better to be safe than some idiots stuck at an iced over pass needing rescue. This one was still on day 3 but I wanted a new track in case we needed to track back to our known location on the JMT.
Totally understand that, and applaud the decision. I see now that was also yesterday.
Ouch.. that pack rub is fierce! Did you have a shirt on? Eric Triplett
Jeff Dinkin of course this means that we will have to make another attempt 😁
Raina . Definitely wearing a shirt...the park service requires that you carry a bear canister so that was beating me up really badly.
Damn straight!!! 😁
Do you think it was that the 45L wasn't giving enough support? What was pack weight? Much above 20 lbs? Or was it just the canister giving you a rub.
Overall brutally cold nice pics 👍
Luke Skywalker the pack was closer to 30lbs. The can had a hard edge so it was banging into my back at times. I had put some gear between it and my back but the nylon would sag a bit. I think it would work a lot better without the can
It’s also important to cinch down the roll top stapling because it also is part of the load lifting and compression system Luke Skywalker
Good to know. Thanks for the report. Sorry to hear that the weather wasn't cooperative, but I think you made the right chance. Don't want to end up in Hoth-like conditions without a Tauntaun!
