nice one, perfect day for it
How was the road surface up to Rionda, where the old army barracks were, Chris? I did it on standard 25mm wheels some years ago. Would it still be possible, you think?
The road surface was decent all the way to the top. I did it many years ago with 28mm tires and that would still be OK, probably also 25 mm if you can stay seated to keep the traction on the rear tire. There are no complete kms that average more than 13% and no ramps more than 17%, so none of it is too crazy.
Right now and during the Spring you have to deal with a section between 1700-1900 m elevation where they’ve removed the bridges to protect them from snow and avalanches during the winter. You therefore have to scramble down into and back out of the small river beds 7 times because of that! It’s not too bad with MTB shoes but would be dangerous with road shoes.
Thanks a lot for the helpful information, Chris!
