Good job Pete :-)
You should be running the half next month
Thanks Barney. Gary: I've a long way to go to half-marathon fitness. Maybe next year.
What a load of crap, if you can run 18km you can run 21. You'd be more prepared than half the field, based on that pace and you're recent 10km plus your shorter training runs you'd run it under 5:30 pace easy.
Agree with Gary 100%. Especially looking at the consistency of that run Pete :-)
Thanks for the votes of confidence. I'd like to be able to run more than 21km before entering my first half. When I signed up for the 10km, I could *just* run 10km. You've made me think about ramping up my training and changing (so, thanks!). Alas "ONLINE EVENT CHANGES ARE NOW CLOSED" -- http://www.melbournemarathon.com.au/General/Changing-Events
Ring them up, I'm sure they will do it if there are spots available.
"We will not be processing further event changes over the phone, so please do not call to request a change as you will be disappointed" -- ibid.
Well that sucks. Can you just do a late signup separately?
Go for it this weekend Pete...while you are in form ! Sri Chinmoy - enter on the day :-) http://au.srichinmoyraces.org/sri-chinmoy-yarra-boulevard-half-marathon
I know it's a terrible excuse but I've just landed in Adelaide!
Haha...we'll let you off the hook for a half mara this weekend so Pete ;-)
I also agree with Gary - I ran my first half with "only" 18km as my longest run.
I humbly submit that you were all right! http://www.strava.com/activities/198156931 .
Yep, looks like everyone else WAS doing it! http://www.strava.com/activities/197357092
OK... Let's do this thing: https://flic.kr/p/pA7Ehc
Haha....GOOD MAN PETE !! You'll blitz it :-)
(2 year later footnote) HE DID BLITZ IT !!!
Ha ha. Thanks Barney. I am grateful that you convinced me to do this. 21.1km is probably my favourite distance now!
I am sure it still is ;-)
Ha ha, Oli. It seems strange, now, that this was *such* a big deal for me. I've literally lost count of the number of HMs I've run, but I know for sure I've completed the 21.1km distance at least once per month since January 2016, many of those with you & Ash, and most of those ending with a gelati breakfast. Yup... definitely a fan of this distance.
