Slow and low

I almost chickened out of this when I saw the elevation gain at 2300' over 13 miles--today was supposed to be an easy run, after all. But I kept reading that it was one of the better running routes in the city. And once the thought of doing it got into my head not even reason could talk me down. And glad it didn't. The views alone were worth it, but miles of graded dirt trail lined with blooming wild fennel and prickly pears in full fruit and jasmine throwing itself carelessly over ancient stone walls, all with water fountains and friendly dogs. I didn't want it to end. But when it did, there were just more beautiful neighborhoods to run through. Ran slow--today was supposed to be an easy 12, not a hill-climbing trail session.
