An early start to set off to catch the Ferry from Tilbury, NCR1 was the route of choice, the CdF the tool, and it was quite appropriate, what was called a bike path was at times more of a footpath, shocking compared to the same route up from Hoek in Netherlands.  A few surprise hills, well it is Kent after all.  One topped out at 14% and another was a 18% decent in to Strood which I knew I would have to climb back up on the return.  Eventually ended up at the target of The Freewheel in Graveley where they were having a craft brewers beer festival, a couple of halves and a burger set me right for the return trip which should have been in to the 12MPH N headwind but seemed to not have the expected slowing effect. Even though I had made up time I was still not there for the 17:00 ferry so a cheeky half of beer whilst watching for the ferry to turn up seemed an appropriate use of the time.  Felt like I crawled home once I got in to Essex but I think it was quicker than expected.  The Common Road in to Billericay seemed to go on for ever, but very soon I was arriving in to Stock and a rapid decent of Swan Lane (with a couple of muppets in their festers testing how close they could get to my rear wheel resulted in a PR for the full decent!.  After that all that was left was to climb London Hill with 120+ miles in my legs.  Once that was over a simple decent home saw the Odo click over to 126 miles. A good dose of wildlife today, no badgers thankfully, but the most I have seen of woodpeckers (both types) and an Owl on the way home.... knackered now!
