A Break In da Remote Work Day

Ate pretty well and slept mostly well last night.

Drove to Iron Mountain, MI, to run in the Lake Antoine Classic 15k as a dress rehearsal for next week's Marquette Marathon. Idea was to run in a race atmosphere and on terrain that closely resembled that in Marquette. Stopping along the way to watch Courtney win the UTMB was pretty awesome. Doing so didn't leave any time for a W/U before the 9 am start time. I don't regret skipping W/U to watch Courtney's bad assery!

The plan called for 12 miles at race pace. Started well in the neighborhood of the chosen/desired pace and held it well through the first 4-ish miles. Overnight rains (we needed them here as well) had left frequent stretches of the trail in slippery-like condition. Being the dress rehearsal, I wore my racing flats and that probably wasn't the most appropriate choice for today's trail conditions. Exercised caution to navigate slowly through/around such slippery stretches through the second half and walked a few steps a few times.

The bib (61) was a prime number (second such in as many days) and the official finish time was 1:09:11 - good for 8/21 overall, 7/15 in gender and 1/3 in AG. The event https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/IronMountain/TheLakeAntoineClassic was (and has been) a fundraiser for Special Olympics. Good outing.
