25th among all men under 50 (11th in 19-34; +6'28''). Mild to strong SW wind. I didn't sleep very well last night (woke up at 3:00 and couldn't sleep deeply afterwards), but I don't know how much of an impact that had. I should also probably have warmed up more, since my legs felt pretty bad after the first climb of Scenic Caves. The first climb was very fast and I followed wheels too much instead of pacing myself. In the end I still got back to the bunch but I dug a hole for myself in the process. In the second climb the move of the race went (Will E), but I wasn't even in a position to see it... I stuck with the peloton until the finishing climb. On the final climb I paced myself better at the beginning but could have added a couple dozen watts in the steep section. I caught Tommy and another two guys. After a couple of attacks, I thought it might be prudent to lead into the finish (since it's only ~100 m from the final corner), but as soon as I hit the headwind I realized it was a bad idea. I lost the sprint. Still, this was an epic day and an awesome race. Thanks, Bruce!
