What is this “walk” activity and why is it so slow?

What. A. Day.

First of all, a bit crazy with the traffic just leaving my Airbnb. A lot more than I expected.

But then it was awesome. The views once up on one of the higher Corniche roads are just stunning. Absolutely out of this world stunning.

I went through some places I’ve never been - the medieval town chateau of Roquebrune, then down through Eze (which was surprisingly busy - the steep climb up to the tower just wasn’t going to be fun with that many cars trying to park), and then coming back through Nice and Monaco.

Stopped in at the Service Course, then waited for Cafe du Cycliste to open back up, and then finally at Camellini Cycles where I met the guys just the other week. It was fun chatting with people from all walks of life and sharing our shared passion.

Monaco was a different beast though. I was told about traffic, but I didn’t expect the madness that ensued. Cars just bolting around and out of corners, the hurried nature of things more so than I expected, and those damn motorbikes!

They kept straddling the lane and passing me, which prompted me to attempt to do the same because it was indeed faster, and it would prevent being so alerted by the motorbikes when they did it to me. But wow, it started to really get to me. 

It definitely requires a different mindset, that’s for sure.

Anyways, I made it to Menton and got some tennis balls so that I could use it as a roller of sorts while I’m here. That was a bit crazy in and of itself.

Highlights though? The descent from Eze into Nice, Cap Ferrat, and Cap Martin. Both those neighborhoods are posh, posh, posh, and had a Beverly Hills kind of vibe going for them. And they were both surprisingly quiet besides being crazy beautiful. Cap Martin has the added bonus of an incredible coastline view out to Italy.
