I woke up and saw the roads were dry check the weather and slight chance of a drizzle until 1 PM.   The heck with the “Dumb” trainer I was miserable on yesterday. Quick Reached out to Walter and Jay with a plan to meet at the train station in Speonk and ride the headwind all the way to Montauk about 55 miles and jump on the train back at 1:30 PM. But then I realized I had to be home at 1 PM so I took the 55 mile coffee shop ride out to Greenport and back. Walter jumped in Jay was silent mode.  Tick tock… Finally Jay responded. He just woke up and I’m like you can get dressed in five minutes. I’ll meet you in 20 at Mill Rd. and Edwards Avenue. I even sent the YouTube clip of the Drill Sarge finding the jelly donut in the foot locker of Private Pile for some extra motivation but it was to no avail.  So it was me and Walter rolling turns into Greenport for some coffee, and it was the most delicious headwind.  Even more delicious than the double espresso lol.  It was at that point that Walter said “I know you love riding into the headwind, but I prefer riding with the tailwind.” We did just under 19mph from Cutchogue to Greenport. That was awesome. Tailwinds are boring.  So I figured ok let’s open the gaskets back and that will at least make it more interesting. Felt like we were back in Rvh in about five minutes after turning on Sound Ave. Threshold all the way until Northville Tpke for one final hammerfest VO2 grand finale. Nice couple of pints post ride showed fatigue in the pic but the brew hit the spot cheers 🍻
