A Break In da Remote Work Day

Ate well and slept mostly well last night.

This is the third ski race of the 2022-23 winter - the first one on classic skis and the third time ever racing on fully waxable classics. The drive to Minocqua with Kim Green was smooth and uneventful, and there were several homies (Craig, Melissa, Shawn Oppliger, stephen  handler and Tom) to make it a family gathering. Got see and chat with Allison, Andy  Komp, Chandra, Erich and Mike Cavanaugh, and several others from my nordic skiing family I had not seen in quite some time.

The trails were well groomed and Mother Nature blessed the region with a lovely day for racing - making the scenery very serene. My goals for the event were: use correct form (complete weight transfer, longer glide on each ski and minimal tail slapping) and terrain-appropriate technique (stride, double pole, kick double pole and step turns at speed), be present in the current kilometer, and race hard with peace.

In spite of the bib (#568) not being a prime or a semi prime, the official finish time was 1:45:59.9 https://results.raceroster.com/v2/en-US/results/j42uvchysjdhmm6k/results?subEvent=158512&page=1 - good for 7/47 overall, 7/36 gender and 1/3 in AG. Grateful for health, and all the help and guidance from friends, mentors and coaches. Toko GHW HP Blue and Toko GPW X-Cold Powder applied and stripped and brushed on 2023-02-03; Structure: None; Grip: Kick zone cleaned and roughened with 150 grit sandpaper on 2023-02-02. Toko KBB Green ironed in, corked and cooled on 2023-02-04. 3x Toko KHW X-Cold and 2x Toko KHW Blue applied in alternating full and middle 2/3rd region, and corked in between layers on 2023-02-04.
