Wow, that's brilliant for this time of year!
Notes in now - phew :) Cheers guys.
I think we saw some of the guys doing the shorter reliability ride. No group at all just riders spread all down the road. Not what I would call group friendly. From the Strava data I would say these were the slower guys, surely some "no drop" concept would be in before place. We also loved the tailwind - great rolling down the road at over 30 mph for a mile or two...
And, personally, a group running a red light is shocking. We spend so much time complaining about drivers (quite rightly often) and then you read this; exactly what a lot of drivers level at us. Experienced road cyclists should be better than that. They should make up for all the ninja numpties that we see in town all the time, also giving us a bad name. Rant over....
Yeah one route got to Pitscottie and turned for Craigrothie. The group I was in was pretty good. Once we got sorted out it was two columns rotating. Once out of that did a bit on my own, and a bit just 3 or 4 of us rotating a single line. The club runs I've done have had a ride captain and a no-drop policy. Not so in these kind of events, I guess might be because no one really knows everyone etc.
Looking at the other rides uploaded to Strava, I'm far less concerned about my detours from the "route" - seems there were lots of folk with their own interpretation of it >.
I wasn't at the front so no idea if front/some/most/all others got through before red, but nearer the back it was red for me and I wasn't going through. Shame to get split - did fancy having a go at the A91 in a group #hatethatcyclepath :)
