When I set this FKT route in February 2021, there was a ton of slippery snow and slushy precipitation that slowed me down. Decided to head back out there to enjoy a hint of spring on this sunshiny but chilly day. Would have been a little bit faster, but stopped (and didn’t stop my watch) to try to be a good citizen. I witnessed a really troubling thing while running. I saw a group of young guys speeding by in a car throw a full cup of soda/ice at a totally random man who was riding his bicycle. The cup hit the man right in the chest. He was ok but just threw up his hands in shock at the crosswalk light. I saw the (clearly immature) young men laughing as they sped by in their car. When I ran up to the man, I made sure he was OK and just said how sorry I am how awful some people can be. Another runner coming from the other direction who saw it happen also stopped and we just had a moment trying to show support to this stranger who had something so randomly unkind just happen to him. He picked up the now empty cup and I said I’d like to throw it away for him. It felt like the right thing to do as it was a cup that was thrown with bad intent and it shouldn’t be his responsibility to deal with it. Here is trying to course correct and lift up others as opposed to doing things that can tear them down. 

Outside of that incident that happened in the last 2 miles - finished listening to the serial series titled “the coldest case in Laramie” (highly recommend!). Now listening to Anne Lamott’s book “almost everything”. Fueled today (and every day) by my PickyBar oatmeal and Nuun hydration and ☀️
