Some slippery snow fields out by Jefferson, but a lot of dry rock overall above treeline. Did Clay for the first time, and climbed into the clouds near the Cog crossing. By Lake of the Clouds, the wind had picked up to 40-50 MPH with 60 MPH gusts, with windchill in the high 20s (my eyelashes kept accumulating ice). I bundled up and hit Monroe and then Eisenhower. After that peak, the clouds lessened, the wind settled to ~20, temps went back up, and visibility got better. I tried to pick up the pace on the descent. I carried 2L from the start and grabbed another liter from a trailside spring.
