Big and Little Charcoal Peaks! Great job! (be careful of the closure, they're issuing citations)
Oh, didn't know they had names. I wasn't aware of a closure. Details?
Ha, those are my own names I assigned them due to their proximity next to Big and Little Charcoal Creeks on the USGS, maybe I can twist your arm into conforming to my naming convention. 😋 The closure finally gets lifted Monday, but here it is, it's the only reason I haven't biked up Kepros yet this year: https://idfg.idaho.gov/press/another-portion-boise-river-wildlife-management-area-closed
And LOVE your description of pointless ups and downs, fits perfect! However I think you could minimize that with this sidehilling trail if you aren't already aware: https://www.strava.com/segments/11857311
Thanks for the info on that closure. Somehow I missed it. I like those names and will use them in my TR. Actually, I avoided the side hilling just add vert. Big mistake! I think 4,500 sounds like a bit much but it sure felt like it.
Good man on all accounts! Looking forward to the TR. I'm hitting one of the most remote peaks out there in the morning, would love you to join if you have a bike. Guessing 40 miles and 7k', obviously easier on a bike.
Thanks for the offer but no mountain bike for me friend! I'd break my neck on one of those. Looking forward to the track!
With your exploratory curiosity I'd LOVE riding with you. Not really a trip report but these links reveal my only time summiting "Little Charcoal Peak". Route+photos: https://www.strava.com/activities/268746538 Video: https://youtu.be/H58cPVlxRGE
