Well well, that was eventful.

Hell of a day out there today, wall to wall sunshine, light winds. Chilly on the drive over, and for the start but soon warmed up.

At the start caught up with Robyn and headed out. We chatted for a couple of miles then being on different routes parted ways.

A decent run northwards, but then a weird bit on the A9 path. Gravel, curbs, bollards, steps, not my usual experience. Few miles and we turned off to Logierait. Asked to dismount and walk the bridge, some work was being done on it.

A quiet run round to the feed station at Weem where I stopped for a bite and chatted to a few guys over a brew and cake.

Moved on and got my way round the loop and got chatting to one of the guys I'd seen briefly at the feed stop. Had a good chat and then pushed on for the main event - the climb.

No messing around, Kenmore starts immediately and keeps giving. It does ease off towards the top, but it's hard to know when you're done. A really good test, really tough, and i really enjoyed it.

Then the ride took a turn for the worse. Just picking up speed on the descent went over a small rise in to a right turn, but the road was narrower and turn tighter than I gave credit for. Front wheel left the tarmac and I bounced on the grass for a short while, then hit a hole and somersaulted over my right shoulder. Oops.

I came round winded and a couple of guys had stopped - sorry I didn't get names, but thanks guys. I remember sitting on the tarmac, feeling angry and throwing my sunglasses to the side. Then it gets fuzzy.

Skipping to the conclusion for a minute, an afternoon in PRI; broken clavicle, dislocated AC joint, grazed elbow, shoulder, hip. Great.

A couple of folks on holiday stopped by sometime soon after. One couple took my bike, the other took me, to the next feed station at Amulree - again I've no way to thank these guys but massive thanks to them. I was aware that I wasn't making much sense, I'm sure I told them the same story multiple times.

I rang Gemma, had a tea, cake, and some time passed. The organisers insisted I got checked out at A&E and Bob was on his way to take me. The guys that got me to the feed station came back and checked that I was ok.

An afternoon of sitting in A&E later I'm home, eaten and ready for some sleep.

Huge thanks to the cyclists that stopped, the guys that took me and my bike to the feed station, Bob who delivered me to PRI.

The car is still in Pitcairngreen, sort that tomorrow. The bike looked ok, right shifter out of line, and new bar tape needed, but will get it checked out properly. Jersey is a write-off, and looking at my helmet that too - bit of a blow to the right side.

Holding on to how good that climb was, and looking forward to completing the route next year!
