Bike fit: fighting numbness

The desire to finish is growing in me and I feel it intensely. I can't explain why because nothing has really changed, and also it’s not like I’m unhappy; in fact when I ride I lose track of time and find I don’t notice it until the hunger starts to hit me. This ride put me just over 77% and I only want to go back out and put it to 78 and then 80 but that number somehow still feels too low. I look at all the red lines on the map and it bothers me in this deeply irrational way, like a mess in your house that's been sitting there for some time and suddenly oddly it comes to your attention and gnaws at you. I am worried I am still going to feel this way once i am finished because there really isn't finishing unless you insanely chase down every little scrap fragment and then also hop on over to Open Street Map and delete the incorrect segments you couldn't reach. You have to just set a threshold and be satisfied with it. There will be a lesson in that I suppose.

I had some great interactions today. A small dog ran across a very busy street and a tiny girl was trying to get it to come back but it wouldn't. I asked her if she wanted help and sensibly she was a little wary of me but I chased the dog halfway back across the road and then she asked me to do it again and eventually I got the thing back in their yard. I also biked by a tall handsome man in the park wearing an orange shirt somewhat like mine and I told him, "Nice shirt" as I rode by and he told me "Likewise". I enjoy these interactions with strangers; they draw me in to the city and feel meaningful.
