I'm working on a piece for the Strava blog about support systems. I have a lot of experience on the receiving end, during my 12 years as a professional track athlete. I have experience as one half of a two-athlete relationship. Experience as an Ironman wife (still waiting on my trophy!) And experience as a coach.
Reasonably new to me is navigating support, both giving and receiving, in my new role as an aspiring life-long recreational athlete. I have one recent epic experience I want to share in my story, which was being crew-chief for a 340 mile relay from LA to Las Vegas. The trailer for a short film made about that experience just came out today, and it's awesome. That was an extremely dramatic environment to learn some things about support that I can't wait to share. http://bit.ly/birdstrike_trailer
But what I need is a peek into other experiences from the Strava community. I want to feature your stories in the article if you'll let me!
SOOOOOOOOO....pick a question you have an opinion on if you'd be so kind:
What have you accomplished athletically that would have been impossible without support?
What does support look like to you?
What's the hardest part about asking for the help you need?
Experiences could range from ultra marathons, to personal challenges, to maintaining or enabling a regular athletic routine thanks to the powers of supportive co-parenting, you name it!
This is an opportunity to highlight your support crew. Go crazy!
Thanks in advance,
