In 1985, I purchased a Norco Sasquatch "mountain bike" but it got put in storage soon afterwards. In the summer of 2011 my knees were beginning to hurt and a friend of mine suggested bike riding to strengthen my knees. I was skeptical but started riding the old Sasquatch in July 2011. After a few weeks, my knees were doing better. Thought a newer bike would be nice but didn't want it to end up parked like the Norco so decided to test bikes every other weekend at various local bike shops to see what might suit me. If I could keep riding through the winter perhaps a new bike would be a nice treat. (Got enthused in September/October 2011 and rode over 900km by years end.) In late December 2011, I decided to purchase a road bike. Happy with my performance so far and trying to increase fitness (although I don't know what I'm doing and have no plan except to keep riding). Completed 4,000km for 2012 and will try to go 5,000km for 2013 and also participate in Boomer's Ride from Comox to Victoria. http://www.stayclassy.org/fundraise?fcid=235843
