Handcyclist - I am just an average Joe that works an 8 to 5 job and lives the life of a paraplegic. I have always loved cycling and found my way back to it again in the form of a handcycle.
What is a handcycle? By definition, a handcycle is designed as a trike with a front wheel driven by a standard derailleur with gearing powered by hand cranks which in turn steers via fork. And yes, you can turn while working the hand cranks. Handcycles are primarily used by people with a lower limb loss/impairment/function. Now, these handcycles come in various styles depending on how the person is going to use it (i.e. leisure, racing, mountain). As for me, I am paraplegic not by birth but by accident and use a 27 speed TopEnd Force 3 handcycle (http://www.topendwheelchair.com/product/force-3-handcycle-2/). You can see pictures of my handcycle by going to my profile page and click through my pictures. I use a GoPro and try to show a handcycle riding perspective, plus beautiful views of where I ride. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I love to share with people that no matter what obstacles you confront in life anything can be overcome. Thank you!
Here is a great video of the city where I ride at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJnbZzUEpvs Enjoy!
