Gran Fondo 130
Celebrate summer with a 130km ride.
Challenge Ended: July 31, 2015
For about 90% of the world’s population, summer has arrived. The days are getting longer and the sun is shining hotter every day... time for some long rides.
Each of the three summer Fondos will get progressively harder this year. We began with June’s 115km Challenge, now it’s 130km in July, and finally a 150km Gran Fondo in August.
So clean up that drivetrain, top off your tires, grab some friends and go for a big ride. Premium cyclists, don’t forget – you have access to personalized training plans by CTS that will get you in peak shape for summer fondos.
(And kudos to all the Strava athletes in the Southern Hemisphere who are donning their arm warmers and making the most out of the fleeting daylight. Enjoy your winter!)
Complete the Challenge and you will unlock the ability to purchase a limited edition Gran Fondo Jersey. This jersey is part of a series that will vary by color each month and will only be available to those who complete the Gran Fondo Challenges.
The 2015 Strava Challenge jersey features a sweatproof zippered pocket for your mobile device, reflective tabs to ensure visibility, and textured stretch fabric on the sleeves and side panels for improved aerodynamics.
The purchasing window will close 5 days after the Challenge ends. The expected delivery time is 6 weeks.
Athletes who complete this Challenge will receive a Gran Fondo digital finishers badge in their Trophy Case.
You have to ride 130 kilometers in a single ride, and the elapsed time of the ride must be under 24 hours.
To ensure you meet the Challenge goal, we recommend you ride a small amount over 130 kilometers during your activity (about 3 km / 2 mi). This will give you a buffer in the event your activity distance is shortened after upload to Strava due to the cleanup of GPS irregularities. You can learn about how distance is calculated for our app by reading this Knowledge Base Article.
The Challenge period starts and ends based on each riders local time zone.
Manual entries or trainer rides will not count towards your Challenge effort.
All activities logged during the Challenge period must be uploaded to Strava no later than three days after the Challenge ends.
Ride hard and be safe. Use common sense when it comes to traffic, weather, or other conditions while taking part in this Challenge. Remember to take care of your hydration and nutrition needs when you’re out on the road.
