4900 ft Elevation
We'll head north out of Prestwich, through Heywood, Rochdale & Bacup - and then with the urban sprawl behind us, the climbing starts. We'll head up Todmorden Road to the highest point of the ride at 1310ft above sea level, and then drop down into Todmorden. There we will follow the valley bottom towards Hebden Bridge. Just before reaching Hebden we'll leave the main road and take on the UK Greatest Climbs #139 Mytholm Steeps - a challenging 1 mile climb up to Slack Top, with an average gradient of 12% but reaching 25% at the hairpins. Once done we drop down through Heptonstall and back into Hebden for a brew. Legs recovered we'll continue to head along the valley bottom to Mytholmroyd, before turning right and taking on UK Greatest Climbs #138 Cragg Vale - never especially steep, but it is the longest continual ascent in England rising 968ft over 5.5 miles up to the top at Blackstone Edge. Then with all the climbing done, it's full gas all the way back home to Prestwich for post-ride refreshements ! (you've earned them)
