The Mixed Bag route includes a variety of some of the best trails in Hale in the most popular direction. Most of the trails are intermediate level but it dips into just a few of the best technical trails as well. The blacks can be tough but the technical features can easily be walked.

The route starts out fast and flowy on the Office and Storrow Pond trails. A great warmup and introduction to Hale.

After crossing the Storrow Pond dam, you work your way over to the Power Glide Trail. This is one of the best technical trails in the reservation with lots of intermediate plus technical challenges.

After completing Power Glide, you follow a long flowy route that briefly dips you into Noanet Woodlands. Follow the smooth and flowy double track down to the beginning of the Knife Edge Trail. This single track on top of a ridge is fast and flowy. Take a hard left to pick up the beautiful Noanet Brook Trail. Working your way south, follow the orange blazes on the Larabee Trail which has some very fast flowy sections as well.

As you approach the farms on your right, work your way over to the Border Path with beautiful elevated views of farmland in Dover.

After Border Path you work your way back to Hale on a long stretch of double track until you hit the Blueberry Hill Trail. If you like, you can jump onto the Strawberry Hill Trail from Blueberry Hill.

Crossing East West Fireroad, you enter the Powissett Peak area of Hale with some of the most challenging trails anywhere. The route skips most of the more difficult trails but feel free to explore the area. The best of the Powisset Peak trails is the Lower Powissett. There will be plenty of rock ledge on this trail to challenge the best riders.

Riding past Powissett Pond and down the paved Grossman Camp Road, you enter the Oak Hill and Nimrods Rock area. Carefully cross Dover Street and initially follow along the Oak Hill Trail that parallels the road. This trail starts out easy but throws a tough technical challenge about halfway down.

Next, climb up toward Nimrods Rock. The trail up is a bit of a slog but about as fun as climbs can get. Drop down Nimrod's Rock Trail and take a hard right onto the Oak Hill Trail.

Follow Oak Hill past Peacock Ridge (technical but fun option), past the rocky creek area, past the over grown lowlands trail on you right, until you see two small single tracks on your right side. They both go to the same place but the first one is better. Take the trail and stay left up the ridge.

This trail will drop you briefly back onto the Oak Hill trail. Look for your next single track on your left. This takes your through the powerlines. You want to stay right at the intersection on the trail. If you hit the Boy Scout Bridge, you have gone the wrong direction.

You complete this area by taking the Oak Hill trail (double track) back up to Dover St. Take a right onto Dover St then left onto Brune Way. This is Hale's Membership Beach.

In the parking area, look for a double track on your left. Follow it down the hill toward Noanet Pond. Take the single track clockwise all the way around the pond.

When you hit the dam, return to the parking area by riding the carriage trail back to Cat Rock parking.
