A favourite region of Victoria, known for its vast wineries, Yarra Glen is a wonderful area to explore on two wheels, taking riders out of the city and into the country backroads. By no means an easy ride, you should be prepared for lots of punchy climbs throughout this route, complemented by the picturesque 5km Clintons Road ascent. Feeling hundreds of kilometres away from the city, you are guaranteed to feel at peace while taking in the smooth pavement, light traffic, and spectacular views.

What Others Are Saying
Just beyond suburban Melbourne following the Yarra river are the small towns of Warrandyte and Wonga Park. These provide a doorway to the many golden cycling miles of the Yarra Valley; panoramic Coldstream, Healesville and Yarra Glen that could easily be mistaken for French Provence. Behind the scarp of Yarra Glen are the rolling hills of Christmas Hills, Kangaroo Ground and St Andrews that connect a curving category 2 climb to Kinglake, unforgettable in its scarred reminder of Black Saturday. Forests of massive gums and views of Melbourne are rewarding on descent back into Whittlesea.
