The Thousand Steps is a challenging hill climb at the base of the scenic Dandenong Ranges. The severity of the incline makes successfully walking the trail a more common goal than running it. Try and enjoy the views on your way up!

What Others Are Saying
There are 2 parallel trails available - the Kokoda Memorial walk trail is the original '1000 steps' but given the number of tourists sharing this narrow trail, running is not officially allowed. A second parallel wider trail has been made available which is safer for runners and arrives at the same end point. Both courses are predominantly comprised of cement stairs as the name suggests. In winter extra care needs to be taken as the stairs can become quite slippery.
