Akuna Bay is one of the best areas in Sydney to ride. With technical climbs and descents, experienced cyclists will enjoy switchback after switchback on this beautiful loop that winds along the coast and through Ku-Ring-Gai Chase Regional Park, Terrey Hills, and Frenchs Forest. Expect bike friendly roads and green bushland scenery as you either cruise and enjoy the view or race against your mates up the steep ascents. Whether you take it easy or go all out, no doubt you'll enjoy this fantastic ride.

What Others Are Saying
This one is one of my favourite North Rides - for starters if you have come from the East or CBD you will have already crossed the Harbour Bridge and had the view to savour, then as the ride unfolds along the coast and then starts to head into the park, be prepared for some of Sydney’s finest natural beauty, challenging climbs (more if you care to tackle the West Head Loop as a ‘ bonus'), and zippy quick technical descents.
A fun ride that combines the best of Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park. The ride starts with the crossing of the Spit bridge then 30 km of relatively flat riding to Mona Vale and Church Point, so you will be nicely warmed up for the first real climb up McCarrs Creek Road and onto West Head Road. There is then a wonderful decent down to Akuna Bay on Liberator General San Martin Drive—named after the Argentine general who led the military campaign to free the southern parts of South America from Spanish rule. A serious climb out of Akuna Bay followed by quality undulating roads through Terrey Hills and Frenchs Forest take you back to the Spit Bridge, Military Road and the end of the ride.
One of the best rides around Sydney, good lumpy sections, minimal traffic. Lots of Strava segments to test yourself and if you include West Head (which is raced by the local cycling club once a month), it is a good workout. Mostly Regional Parkland.
