Ouderkerk aan de Amstel
This longer run takes you on another Amstel exploration; a little lake makes a great reward and half-way point. Though it starts somewhat close to the center, the beautiful and less-populated areas you'll find along this route will surprise you.

What Others Are Saying
lot of people run along the part that flows through the city but I prefer to start at the point where it leaves the city, at the Berlage bridge, and follow it to a small town near Amsterdam called 'Ouderkerk aan de Amstel'. This part takes about 7 km and is also part of the Amsterdam marathon. Arriving at Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, I cross the water and run back on the other side. Here is a link of on of the many times an ran there. What is so great about it is that you leave the city behind. Running across the water keeps you going. If you go out there on a sunday, the road if full of cyclists and the water full of rowers so it's a need spot to go out for Amsterdam citizens to do their exercise.
