Golden Gate Bridge

Running Route

Easy
9.93 km
136 m
Who can resist running across that iconic behemoth of orange steel known as the Golden Gate Bridge? It is a right of passage for San Franciscans to cross the bridge on foot. It is also a huge tourist attraction so if you don't fancy dodging masses of picture taking, strolling tourists then make sure to get an early start. Start your pilgrimage at the Sports Basement store situated along Crissy Field. The sporting goods store has a public restroom and drinking fountain and is also a great place to stop in after your run if you are in need of any running gear or a snack. Once you have ascended out of Crissy Field and are running across the bridge you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Bay to your right and the ocean to your left. On a clear day, look out to the horizon to see if you can spot the Farallon Islands off in the distance. Upon reaching the north side of the bridge you can make a pit stop at the restroom facilities here at the vista point, snap some photos of the city and then head back the way you came. Note that the bridge sidewalk is closed at night so this is a daytime run only.
