Who doesn’t like a ride out to Emley? Well todays your lucky day because we’re climbing it twice.
Leaving HQ, we start up Moorgate Rd. heading to Thorpe Hesley via Kimberworth, dropping down on the quite country roads to Scholes we ride on through Wentworth and Hoyland Common before tackling Lowe Lane. Riding the high road to Silkstone Common we take the rolling hills by Cannon Hall up to High Hoyland. Make sure your legs are warm because next we’re going up the long drag to the mast.
If we’ve split up on the final climb, we’ll regroup at the base of the 330m tall concrete tower (just imagine it six times as tall and that’s all of today’s climbing) before dropping the down the far side into Kirkburton so that the steeper road of Jagger Ln can be climbed. After the second accent we cruise down to the café stop to the Thorncliffe Tasting Rooms for a quick refuel.
Now we head back over the same undulating terrain we came out on with two climbs of note Litherop Rd. up to High Hoyland and Hermit Hill into Pilley. Next its back via Elsecar, Hooton Roberts and up Ravensfield before dropping down into Dalton to finish with Brecks Lane. This is a Hilly ride so we’ll go nice and steady so everyone can enjoy it.
